Tahoe City Kayak & Paddleboard rentals and tours

Pedal Drive - kayaks

Pedal drive kayaks are a type of kayak that are propelled by your feet instead of a paddle. The Hobie MirageDrive propulsion system for pedal kayaks was revolutionary in its inception in 1997 and has been evolving ever since. The pedals move forward and back in a stepping motion that’s reminiscent of an old-school stair-climber fitness machine. This moves underwater fins, which in turn propel the kayak forward and back.
