Tahoe City Kayak & Paddleboard rentals and tours
We make getting out on Lake Tahoe easy, safe, and hassle-free. Whether you’re looking for a rental, a guided tour, or a personal kayak or paddleboard of your own, our experienced staff is ready to help.
We have two beach-front rental locations at the water’s edge, both with free parking and easy access. If you’re staying in North Lake Tahoe or Truckee, please proceed on this website for paddling experiences at Tahoe City’s main town beach, “Commons Beach.” If you’re staying in South Lake Tahoe, visit our southtahoekaykak.com site for paddling experiences at South Lake’s “El Dorado Beach.”
Our family friendly location at Commons Beach in Tahoe City is the closest location to most North Tahoe’s major hotels, including the hotels in Palisades Tahoe ski resort. Commons Beach offers a shallow water launch and better natural protection from wind and waves than many other Tahoe beaches, so it’s perfect for kayakers and paddleboarders of any skill level.
This beach also offers a playground, BBQ pits, a Thursday Farmers Market, free live music performances on Sundays, and it’s within walking distance of popular restaurants.

The smallest member of the team but the toughest! This tiny meatball of a Westy dog is the alpha dog of the shop
She's the most athletic dog in our crew, and demands to be taken on a mountain bike ride, ski tour, or kayak session every day
Moose is especially fond of kids stopping by the shop
“We just returned back east from a glorious week in Lake Tahoe. The weather was superb with constant blue sky, warm days and cool nights and the prevailing mood was uplifting with the fire contained, the residents cohesive and the Fourth of July fireworks on the lake spectacular. Yet even with the great hiking, fun sailing, terrific dining and frequent drinking, the highlight of our trip was a private kayak tour starting at Sand Harbor with Tim and Molly. The lake was like glass, the sun was warm, the exercise invigorating but the information we learned about Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area and mostly the camaraderie of the instructors was something we will never forget. The memory will bring smiles and laughter to us for a long time.”
