Andrew Laughlin has been guiding kayak tours on Lake Tahoe since 2005, and also guided for outfitters in Lake Champlain, NY and Lake Placid, NY. Andrew completed his ACA Level 2 guiding certification in Moss Landing and Sausalito, CA in 2010. Since 2005, Andrew has guided thousands of guests on Lake Tahoe kayak tours, and has expert level knowledge about the Tahoe area.
Favorite Outdoor Adventure you’ve ever had?
For me, it's a tie between two trips: 1) In 2024, I met some friends in British Columbia, and we hired a helicopter to drop us off on Nirvanna Pass for 8 days of ski mountaineering and camping on the glaciers. 2) In 2012 I drove down to Baja, Mexico with a van-load of friends and a trailer full of kayaks and spear-fishing equipment. We spent a month beach camping, kayaking, spear fishing, and playing guitar by the campfire in various locales around the Sea of Cortez.
Favorite hobby when you're not guiding?
Mountain biking, skiing, or playing music with friends.
If you could add one ridiculous feature to a kayak, what would it be?
I'd like a waffle maker to make blueberry waffles while out on the lake.
What's your most used phrase on a tour?
These dad jokes are gonna get worse before they get better."
